PARMA - ITALY'S 2020 CAPITAL OF CULTURE
Parma, the city of Perfume: the history of a unique supply chain told through two exhibition itineraries in the city centre.
With its over 200 years of expertise and entrepreneurial skills, Parma is globally recognised as a reference point in perfumery and has created over time a successful supply chain of companies which produce not only fragrances, but also glassware, printing, paper products and packaging solutions. A whole galaxy that makes our territory unique in Italy and beyond.
On one side, the Parma branch of CNA, the Italian association of craftsmen and SMEs, focused on know-how, expertise, craft skills and creativity. On the other, Mouillettes&Co, the project leader.
Mouillettes&Co is a unique business in Italy which designs training and counseling programmes for the world of perfumes, whose creative spark has led to the creation of "Parma, the Perfume City". This partnership, in collaboration with all our stakeholders and through the stories and images of the supply chain leaders, has given birth to this project, which will branch out into two different exhibition itineraries. The first one will be held at the Glauco Lombardi Museum (7th December 2019 -22nd March 2020) and will showcase the supply chain history. The second one, at the Ape Parma Museum (1st April - 30th June 2020) will focus on innovation and modernism in the same supply chain.
The rediscovery of the historical identity of perfumery will take the form of many activities, from the 8th of December to the 30th of June. During the weekends, guided tours of the two Museums and olfactory itineraries in the city centre will be offered, including visits to the botanical garden, historical perfumeries and the antique apothecary "San Filippo Neri".
The new-found energy that has made this project possible will also bring more events: a perfumery lab, conferences and visits to manufacturing companies, a unique and exclusive way to get lost in the maze of fragrances and discover the whole world just in one perfume bottle.
